A very Happy 2nd Birthday to Rusty today!
It’s been almost a year and a half ago that Rusty and I first met. First thing I noticed about Rusty was that he was one very handsome little guy. The second thing I remember asking his mum and dad ‘does he ever get exhausted?’ to which they said ‘not really….’.
Rusty is an incredibly sweet little pup who is highly entertaining and I can honestly say there is never a dull moment when you’re in the company of Rusty. I’d say Rusty is very much the comedian out of my pack.
As dogs go, Rusty is extremely social. He makes instant friends with every dog I’ve ever introduced him to or walked him with. He loves to run, play ball, chase and rumble with his bigger pals such as Tinoh, Jester, Trudeau, Paddington & Maddy. And when it comes to the littler friends like Darcy (I), Olive, Aggie & Skippy, Rusty is gentle and sweet, letting them climb all over him while they (usually Darcy) lick his face!
Rusty is also a highly intelligent pup. You can actually see him thinking when you look into his eyes. He is so fast-moving and so fast thinking that as a dog walker I’m kept on my toes. He also has this uncanny ability to sniff out a toy or ball that he’s after. Even if the object is completely clean and you hide it without him watching, once he’s left to his own devices he can find that object in 3 seconds flat. We’ve now turned this skill of Rusty’s into a ‘after walk’ ritual that involves me hiding all his treats in nooks and crannys around his yard. Once I’m ready to leave I give him the signal and he starts the hunt. By the time I’ve reached the back gate, Rusty has retrieved and eaten all the treats!
I’ve asked Rusty’s mum and dad to write a little something about Rusty and they’ve shared some very cute puppy pics. Read below for more…
