Barney at 14 weeks old and his first day at home!
Happy Happy Birthday to little Barney boo who yesterday turned two! (so sorry this birthday blog post is a day late! x)
So it was way back in February 2011 that I first saw this cute little ball of fluff bouncing around the Mort Bay pit. I stopped and bent down to have a pat and cuddle. I remember telling this little guy how cute he was. Then I heard “Calley is that you?”. I looked up to see the owner of this cute fluff ball was an old friend I had worked with back when I first started in advertising and was working at M&C Saatchi. Barney’s mum and I worked in the same department and we even sat close by on the same floor (big ad agencies have hundreds of people). We got chatting and then a few months later I got an email asking if I had a spot available for little cavoodle Barney.
It took a few visits before Barney figured out who I was and what I was doing each time I turned up at his front door. But once I had his trust we became good mates. Barney, as I was warned could be pretty hyper when given too many smackos. He was, as a pup, full of energy & very speedy in the running department. Barney made such good pals with Elvy, Chilli & Skippy to start with and then later the Twins, Issy, Molly (I), Maggie, Maddy, Little Bear, Oscar (III) and also Dave & Charlie (both are his neighbours, live just up the street).
Barney, has over the last year, turned into quite the smoocher and is a little more chilled out. When I’m on the ground trying to photograph all the playing, running and swimming of my pack, Barney loves to come on over and squeeze his way onto my lap, as he just loves a cuddle. He’s new trick is to bolt towards me when I’m on the grown and lick my face and sit on my head (this is usually when I’m very low trying to get the ground shots again).
Barney loves to have a wrestle with his pals, loves to chase the birds, loves to chase and be chased (especially with a stick in his mouth) and sometimes he loves a swim, though only when he decides he wants to swim! Barney also loves to the long walk around to each of his mate’s houses to check out if there is any food left in their bowls or to inspect their toys. Barney is such a good boy when out on walks. He never pulls on the leash (except when he sees a cat), and he has such great recall that I never have to worry about barney taking off to the other side of the park as he likes to stick close by me.
A very very happy birthday to my little Barns, Barney boo, Barnicles or BarneyBarneyBarney as I often say!
Some more cute photos of little Barney below and a message from his mum & dad…
